Why hourly instead of a flat project fee?
A flat fee has to assume the worst case to protect the shop, which means overpaying when a project goes smoothly. Hourly, itemized billing means paying for the work a project actually takes, visible line by line in the quote.
What's included in the 48-hour quote?
An estimated hour count for design and build, a materials estimate, and an expected timeline. Final billing reflects actual hours worked, not the estimate, but the estimate is built to be accurate, not a lowball.
Is there a minimum project size?
No minimum on prototyping. Small batch production starts at 20 units, well under the 500 to 1,000 unit minimums most manufacturers require.
